“Chief Mike McKendrick and the Tucson Fire Foundation have united Southern Arizona firefighters while addressing their unmet health and safety needs.

The Tucson Fire Foundation supports all those that care for us every day.  Let’s make sure we support the Tucson Fire Foundation and our firefighters.

Richard Carmona, M.D., M.P.H., FACS
17th Surgeon General of the United States

The Fire Foundation was founded to provide our firefighters with health wellness services in the areas of cardiac health, cancer prevention, and mental health support. Today, over half of on duty firefighter deaths are due to cardiac related issues. Cancer is on the rise and is expected to soon overtake cardiac health as a major cause of firefighter death. This coming year, the number of firefighters who will take their own lives will be greater than the number killed fighting fires. We’re here to provide our firefighters and their families with the physical and mental health support they need
